I just wanted to announce, with great excitement, that my book about my daugther's adoption from Russia,
Adopting Alesia: My Crusade for My Russian Daughter, is now available to order from Amazon! It was a 5 year labor of love to get this book to press, since I work full-time and am a mom to two, now. However, I am proud of it and I want to spread a very important message - older kids Rock! For more, see below.

Dear Editor:
I grew up watching Melissa Gilbert on "Little House on the Prairie," never missing an episode. Did it ever occur to Mrs. Gilbert that she probably would not have had the success she's had if her birth mom didn't make the decision she did?
In this day and age it still amazes me the horrible…

I am an adoptive father; we adopted from overseas about 15 years ago!!
Here is the link to the book. Would love to talk, help anyone out I can…

A lot of kids are excited about seeing the new movie Hotel For Dogs. However, foster and adoptive parents should be aware that there are major foster care and adoption themes that might upset some children - particularly those who have experienced abuse and neglect, a lack of food, multiple moves and/or sibling separation.
My friend took her daughter and mine to this movie, not having any clue about these themes. I usually look up the plots of movies beforehand, because in the past some themes…

1) Reasons a person should not adopt: I would have to say number one answer is instability in the home between mom and dad. All children that are coming into the family are going to be starting life anew yes, but with a HUGE piece of baggage called "rejection". The last thing you want to do is to offer them instability as a replacement. Adoption is such a wonderful but also stressful event as it is.
