- I am adopted and I found my birth mother about 20 years ago. For the last 2 years I was taking care of my birth mother who has suffered from severe mental illness the majority of her life and spent 20 years in a mental institution as a result of her mother sending her there due to drinking as a young girl in college. I was concieved in the mental institution by a doctor. I have had a horrible experience caring for her because of her family agreeing to help me financially and then once i took her in my care they didn't do what they said they would do. As a result I lost everything. It has been the best experience and the worst of my life. I want to write a book about her life which is unbelievable and about my experience caring for her.
