My name is Sarah k. and I have been active in the adoption community for about 4 years now. I am on my 2nd adoption from Taiwan and my 4th home study. Seeing as there is very little information on Taiwan adoption, I decided to start keeping a Taiwan information blog. It seems to be fairly successful. Therefore, I am considering turning my posts and knowledge into a book that is written from a "girlfriend's" prospective.

Tips for Prospective Adoptive Parents

1) Reasons a person should not adopt: I would have to say number one answer is instability in the home between mom and dad. All children that are coming into the family are going to be starting life anew yes, but with a HUGE piece of baggage called "rejection". The last thing you want to do is to offer them instability as a replacement. Adoption is such a wonderful but also stressful event as it is. There are many other "excuses" I can come up with, but very few are honestly "reasons" to not ado… Continue

Thanks for commenting back.
Are adoptions from Taiwan about the same price as other international adoptions? I'm fairly sure we're done - my husband is pretty tight with the finances - but it's always in the back of my mind!

Nice to meet you Sarah. I wasn't aware that Taiwan was open to adoptions. I have 2 children from Vietnam, which is now closed to (US) adoptions. I *think* our family is complete. Of course, I always wish for one of those "baby on the doorstep" stories!

Sarah, Thanks for the advice! I tried contacting several agencies and they blew me off. I think they assume I just want to sell something to them, and that isn't the goal. We really do make very little off each carrier we sell, and that's why we have other products on the site. I have not tried magaznes though, and will re-visit the agancies! Thanks!

HI Sarah! Finding a neighbor is great thing! I live in Lakewood...how about you?

I am looking for ways to inform the adoption community about attachment and bonding, and how it can be facilitated through "baby wearing". I formed a company at www.tweetiepiebaby.com and we sell baby carriers. Our carriers are well below market value, because want to put carriers in the hands of every new mom, adoptive as well as birth. Any advice?
