We are an adoptive family journaling our family adaptation post-placement of our son from Ukraine September 2007. I am not a professional writer, just passionate about adoption. My only public writings are on our blog at www.jerdebwalker.blogspot.com. I volunteer to speak on our adoption experience through our agency as well as support others who are adopting or have adopted.
12-08 I was officially published in Bethany Christian Services Fall 2008 "Lifelines" magazine, where I told the story of our son and his best friend adopted two years apart, praying for eachother and finally seeing eachother again this year.
Congratulations on your new addition to the family. I looked at your blog and know that you are going through a lot of challenges! My family just celebrated the three year anniversary of our daughter joining the family, at age four. Although her issues were/are not as severe at all (only emotional and behavioral, not medical) that first year was very, very challenging. The second year was much better, and by the end of the second year we felt like a 'normal' family, if you know what I mean :~). Sounds like you are doing great...hang in there! They always say it, but it is true that you really do need to make sure you take care of yourself as well: getting our for breaks and pampering yourself a bit. Best of luck and Merry Christmas!
Hello!
