My name is Heidi and I am an adoptive mother to 2 blessings from Vietnam~ Gracie is 7 and Ian is 1. My husband is Brian and we also have a "homegrown" daughter~ Ashley~ who is 13. I'm a stay-at-home homeschooling mom with a real passion for adoption and spreading the news that it's ok to adopt.
In addition to homeschooling and blogging, I do alot of book and product reviews~ some for The Old Schoolhouse magazine~ and alot of freelance work. Recently I've had the opportunity to review Laura's book~ the Adoption Network~ you can see that review here: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/ReviewsbyHeidi/349830/
I've been enjoying the opportunity to promote some new adoption books in the homeschooling arena.

Masterpiece of Joy

I recently posted a review of the book Masterpiece of Joy by our own Bobbi Grubb on my blog. You can read it here. Bobbi has so obviously poured her heart and soul into the writing of this book. After reading it, I feel as if I know her as a friend. I look forward to, one day, reading the sequel~ about her 2nd adoption!

Welcome Home, Forever Child

My review of Welcome Home, Forever Child has been posted on my blog.
If you have a child that was adopted as a toddler or older, then this book would make a wonderful addition to your home library~ it will be one to share over and over again with your child.

Enjoy!

Adoption Parenting~ a review

I recently had the privilege of reviewing Adoption Parenting, a new book edited by Jean MacLeod and Sheena Macrae, PhD, and published by EMK Press/Carrie Kitze. This book is an adoption resource that every adoptive family should have in their home! What a wealth of information, and all together in one place!

Hi Heidi,

I was wondering if you would be interested in reviewing mu new children's book, Family Day: Celebrating Ethan's Adoption Anniversay. If so, maybe you can remind me of your address by sending me an e-mail at christine@christine-mitchell.com, and I will send you a copy. Thanks, and have a great day!

Heidi, Hello. Actually the agency adoptions range from 21k-27k. The Independent side ranges from 10k-14k depending on how much your foster care is and for how long and how much your Homestudy is. Independent adoption is bare costs. Meaning that there isn't an agency to gouge you for money they don't earn or orphanages to over charge you...lol. Here is a article I wrote on costs. http://taiwanindependentadoptioninfo.blogspot.com/2008/01/i-am-going-to-type-fees-rundown-below.html

And, yes, Taiwan is open for agency adoption and Independent adoptions, which is the way we are going this time. You never know when you are truly done do you? lol..

I know how you feel! I wish the "baby on the doorstep" would happen here too. We evidently are meant to keep adopting for a while. We are waiting right now to see if we can get Jo's Older brother. He has been severely abused by mom's boyfriend and we hope to bring him home one day.

Hi Heidi,

I'm adopting 2 boys from Haiti. I met them in July and am going to visit again soon. It is a long slow process, but it will be worth it in the end. Thanks for your note.

Take care,

Lena

Hi Heidi. Thank you so much for your welcome. I am still trying to find my way around! It is really great to find this site. As soon as I get myself organized, I will write a bit more about my books. I have a true life series which tells the story of my daugher and I, and I have a fictional story as well. I hope to get them self-published and then I will let you know where they are. Thnk you so much. I look forward to reading your reviews. I hope someday you would be willing to reveiw mine.

Thanks again for the welcome.
