- I'm a single adoptive dad, who fostered an 11 year-old boy, and adopted him at the age of 13. In fact, if you watched "Martian Child," you'd recognize my family. My blog, "Ramblings of a Single Dad" was launched in 2007 with a post entitled "Expecting at 40" (http://donva.blogspot.com/2007/09/expecting-at-40.html) and I've been writing ever since.
