Adoption Writers

Educating and Advocating For Adoption Through the Written Word

I am relatively new to the site, and am looking for writers, bloggers and others who might be willing to write articles about attachment and bonding issues. I am a former foster parent to unattached children, and adopted two children, one with Reactive Attachment Disorder.

I feel this is the biggest cause of failed adoptions today. Having had personal experience with it, I know how devastating it can be to all involved. Unfortunately it doesn't get the attention it needs, and there are things that can be done to make the process easier. Sometimes bonding just doesn't happen the minute you hold your new child.

I have an online business that was created out of the desire to help new parents overcome some of these issues. We sell an assortment of baby accessories, but our main products are baby carriers. We make very little on them because our goal is to put carriers into the hands of each and every adoptive parent that we come in contact with, as well as new birth parents.

I intend to have a page solely for writers to post on our site, and wonder if anyone here might be interested in participating?

Wow...your blog brought back so many memories of my little ones...I mean my big ones, when they were little!
What thoughts do you have as far as posting goes? I am trying to get the page set up on my site so that others can post articles, links, etc. It's not as easy whrn you go thru someone else!

Hey Nanette,

I also have a son with RAD, and while we seem to take the long way around every single issue we encounter, we are making it through. Not always pretty, but there has been progress. Not sure what I can offer up, but I would be interested in discussing it. You can see where our life on my blog at http://donva.blogspot.com.
